I confess befuddlement before the cult of celebrity. I have never been one to dream of catching a wispy glimpse of someone known to many someones. This is as true of famous humans* as it is of famous cats.
The cats remind us that we are not alone. For every oddity and instance of ookiness, there’s a comrade in arms to share your strangeness.
You and I have gotten to know each other rather well in this space, kittens. As a result, I know one of your greatest longings this holiday season.
When you’re grateful, you see the secret glitter on everything. When you’re grateful, your own purring is contagious.
It’s a ceaseless source of shame that it’s easier to be patient with cats than with people. I wish this weren’t so. I hope the cats are making me a better human. But it is true.
