The Irish could take a queue from the Chinese when it comes to cats. The Chinese let cats attend their universities (non-matriculating, I assume).
Check out this article on an English-language Chinese web site about 
a cat that has free access to the c lassrooms at Peking University. He’s even allowed to eat during the lectures.
How cool is that? In a communist country? I’ll bet Marx is rolling over in his grave. After all, didn’t Marx say “Religion is the catnip of the masses?”

No, Jonathan — it was the famous philosopher, Micky, who said, “Cheese is the opiate of the meeses.”
Years ago they had book worms, now that all students have computers and each one has a mouse, it seems only appropriate that each school should have a cat to police these computer mice.
I have to agree that the cat must be non-matriculating. We all know that cats don’t take lessons – they give them. And brilliantly. 🙂
